Dealer Studio now supports Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) cardholder concessions directly within the sales contract process. This update allows dealerships to apply GST, stamp duty and applicable Luxury Car Tax concessions accurately, in line with ATO guidance, with clear visibility on contracts and invoices.
Applying the GST Concession at the Vehicle Price Step
At the Vehicle Price step, a new GST Concession option is available. By default, this is set to None. When a customer is eligible, such as a DVA cardholder, the concession can be activated and the pricing updates immediately.
When enabled, Dealer Studio calculates total GST across the vehicle base price, paint or trim, and dealer delivery charges. The GST concession is then applied up to the official ATO car limit, with GST still payable on any amount above that threshold.
The calculation follows the ATO-published car limit. For example, using the 2024–25 car limit of $69,674, GST is fully concessioned on the portion up to the limit, while GST remains payable on any value above it. This ensures the calculation mirrors ATO expectations.
What the GST Concession Applies To
In Dealer Studio, the GST concession applies only to the vehicle price, paint or trim, and dealer delivery charges.
The concession does not apply to accessories or miscellaneous items. This is intentional and ensures compliance, as accessories may not qualify under the same concession rules.
How the GST Concession Appears on Contracts and Invoices
Once applied, the GST concession is clearly shown on both the Sales Contract and the Tax Invoice.
The documentation displays the total GST calculated, the GST concession amount as a negative adjustment, and any remaining GST payable if applicable. This provides transparency for both the dealership and the customer.
Applying Stamp Duty Concessions for DVA Veterans
Dealer Studio also supports stamp duty concessions for eligible DVA veterans.
When disabling stamp duty, you can select the reason as Veteran – DVA Eligible Concession. This ensures the duty is removed correctly, the reason is recorded, and the contract reflects the concession appropriately.
Luxury Car Tax (LCT) Concessions
Luxury Car Tax concessions follow the same principles. While GST and stamp duty concessions are fully implemented, LCT concession handling is being finalised to ensure consistency across all tax components.
This will ensure that where a DVA concession impacts LCT, it is handled with the same level of accuracy and transparency.
Why This Update Is Important
This enhancement ensures accurate tax calculations, compliance with ATO guidance, reduced manual adjustments, audit-ready contracts, and a better experience for eligible veterans.
Most importantly, it allows dealerships to confidently support DVA cardholders without relying on workaround calculations or post-contract changes.
