How to mark GA4 Events as Conversions

Step one: Sign-in your Google Analytics account and find relevant Property

For new websites, events may take 24-48 hours to show so its good practice to create test leads through the website prior to going live or prior to beginning any Google Ads.



Step two: Click the Admin tab on the bottom left of the window

Step three: Click the "Events" option under "Data Display"

Step four: View the list of existing events and mark as a conversion by using the toggle to the right

Google Analytics does not show any past conversions, only conversions from after it was marked as a conversion (hence the importance of doing this step prior to advertising). Conversion Events will start tracking as soon as the "Mark as conversation" toggle is activated.

Step five: Import Conversions to Google Ads (optional)


Ensure your Google Ads account is linked to your Google Analytics account prior to importing. 

In your Google Ads account, go to Tools and Settings and Conversions. Click the "New Conversion Action" button.

Step six: Select the Import option

Select "Google Analytics 4 properties" and then select "Web". Click Continue.

Step seven: Select the Analytics event that you marked as a conversion and click "Import and continue" button

Well done! You have now marked your events as conversions in Google Analytics and imported to Google Ads (optional).
