Page Editor Form Builder Tool

Form Builder Tool

This tool allows you to set up a custom form, which when filled out, will provide you with a lead in the Dealer Studio dashboard. The main advantage of this custom form is to be able to request more precise information specific to your dealership, for example, a customer's address.

Lead Category

Each form is assigned a particular category from the following options:

  • New Vehicle Enquiry
  • Used Vehicle Enquiry
  • Special Offer Enquiry
  • Test Drive Booking
  • Trade-in Enquiry
  • Sell My Car Enquiry
  • Fleet Enquiry
  • Service Booking
  • Service Enquiry
  • Parts Enquiry
  • General Enquiry
  • Finance Enquiry
  • Insurance Enquiry
  • Competition Enquiry
  • Survey

The category that you assign to the form will be attached to every lead submitted from that form, and can be used to set up custom notifications in the Dealer Studio dashboard.

Core Fields

These are fields that are required on all forms and cannot be removed:

  • Full Name
  • Mobile Number
  • Email Address

Custom Fields

When adding a new field to your form, there are several different customisation options provided.

Type

This determines the type of the field that is displayed. Here is a list of the different field type options:

    • text - a simple, one-line text field that accepts any type of text
    • message - a multi-line text box that accepts any type of text
    • number - a field that only accepts numbers
    • select - a select field where users can choose from a list of options that you define
    • address - an address field that provides auto-complete options
    • postcode - a field that only accepts valid Australian postcodes
    • dob - a date of birth field (dd/mm/yyyy)
    • currency - a field that only accepts valid currency values (numbers and decimal points)
    • rego - allows a user to enter vehicle registration and state details, and searches for the matching vehicle
    • hidden - a hidden field that can be used to manually set particular lead values (such as location_id)
    • locationSelect - a specialised select input that allows you to define a list of locations (attached to your dealership) for the user to select from

Form Data Key

This is the key that will be used to show this field on your form leads. This must be unique and descriptive for each field.

Some important values are:

  • location_id - this will connect your lead with the associated location. This can be useful for locationSelect inputs (giving the user a list of locations to choose from), or for hidden inputs (automatically assigning the lead to a location).

Required

this determines whether a user is required to input a value into this field before they can continue to the next step, or submit the form.

Label

The text shown above the input field.

Placeholder

The default/placeholder text shown inside the field (before the user has written anything)

Options

Here you can define a list of the options you want the user to be able to choose between (for ‘select’ type fields). There are 2 different types of Options fields:

  • A text input field where you can type the option you want and then ‘add’ it to your list of user options.

  • A select field where you can select from a list of options and then ‘add’ your selection to your list of user options.

Special Value

This input is used to set the value of a hidden input field that will be sent with your lead.

  • As an example, you may want every lead submitted from this form to be associated with a location with the id 123, so you could add a hidden field with a Form Data Key of location_id and a special value of 123.
